University of Indianapolis sophomore distance runner Kieran Casey and Lewis University senior multi-event specialist Amber Cook have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Wednesday.
Casey ran an NCAA provisional time of 4 minutes, 54.77 seconds in the mile run contested at the Bob Eubank Open on the campus of Grand Valley State University this past weekend. Her effort is currently ranked first among GLVC competitors and third among NCAA qualifiers. Her time also established a new university record, breaking the previous mark of 4:56.00 set by Maria Harriman.
The Indianapolis, Indiana native earns her first weekly honor for the indoor season and is the first Greyhound to be recognized since Camille Edwards on Feb. 12, 2014.
