University of Southern Indiana senior distance runner Johnnie Guy and Saint Joseph's College sophomore jumper Phil Thompson have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Wednesday.

Guy recorded an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the mile to lead the No. 14 Screaming Eagles in their indoor season opener Saturday at the Little Giant Open, hosted by Wabash College.  He finished first in the event with a time of 4 minutes, 15.22 seconds, winning the event over teammate and fellow All-American Tyler Pence by one second.  Guy's time is currently tops in the GLVC and fifth in Division II.

This is the fourth weekly honor for the Palmyra, Indiana native, and the first for a USI standout since Guy was last honored on Feb. 5, 2015.  He also garnered recognition on Jan. 22, 2015, as well as Feb. 6, 2013.
