University of Indianapolis senior guard Jordan Loyd has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Loyd averaged 23.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game this past week, helping the Greyhounds go 3-0 in GLVC East action. He shot 49 percent (24-of-49) from the floor, 93 percent (14-of-15) at the foul line and recorded a strong 3.3 assist/turnover ratio as well.

Loyd was crucial to the Greyhounds' 84-81 comeback win over Saint Joseph's in Rensselaer last Monday, finishing with a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds. His biggest contribution for UIndy came down the stretch, where he scored the team's final six points on a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line to secure the victory.

Thursday, the Atlanta, Georgia native poured in a game-high 29 points on 11-of-17 shooting and hit 5-of-10 from 3-point range in leading the Hounds past Illinois Springfield, 103-77. He added six rebounds, four steals and three assists in the win.

Perhaps his most spectacular feat of the week came Saturday against McKendree. With the game tied 75-75, he drained a long 3-pointer with 1.3 on the clock to complete the Hounds' biggest comeback win of the year. Trailing by 15 at the half, Loyd and company outscored the Bearcats 50-28 in the second period. He finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals, good for his second double-double of the season.

Loyd earns his second career weekly honor as he was first honored on Dec. 22, 2014.  He is the first Greyhound to be recognized by the league since Joe Lawson on Jan. 19, 2015.
