Lewis University freshman forward Jessica Kelliher has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Kelliher averaged 23.5 points, six rebounds and three blocks over the course of two Conference victories last week. In those two games, she also combined for a 74.1 percent (20-of-27) shooting clip and was 7-of-10 (70%) from the foul line.
First against Southern Indiana, the freshman tallied 18 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal to help the Flyers defeat the Screaming Eagles Thursday night 76-47. She was a perfect 4-of-4 on free throws and shot 77.8% (7-of-9) from the field.
In Saturday afternoon's contest against Bellarmine, Kelliher tied a career-high mark for points with 29 to lead Lewis in its 83-73 win against the second best team in the East Division. She also tied for third in program history for single-game blocks, stuffing Knight shooters six times while also adding seven rebounds and one steal. Additionally, the forward shot 13-of-18 (72.2%) and made good on half her attempts (3-of-6) at the charity stripe.
The Waukesha, Wis., native claims her second career weekly honor after first being chosen earlier this season on Dec. 14, 2015.
