Lewis University’s Jason Genova (Chicago, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward paced the Flyers in wins over Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech over the weekend at the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
Genova posted 20 points, four rebounds and three assists in Lewis’ 78-76 win over Lake Superior State on Friday. He finished 8-for-17 (.471) from the field and knocked down two three-point field goals in the victory.
He returned in the Flyers’ 70-52 win over Michigan Tech on Saturday to deliver a 60 percent shooting effort from the field. He was 9-for-15 on the afternoon and finished with a game-high 24 points, including 14 points in the first half. Genova was 2-for-6 behind the three-point arc and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. He also tallied four rebounds, two assists and a block in the victory.
On the week, Genova averaged 22 points, four rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 53.1 percent from the field.
Lewis (2-0) will return to action at Saint Francis on Saturday.
