University of Southern Indiana senior distance runner Johnnie Guy and McKendree University sophomore jumper Alex McCrite have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Guy ran the nation's fastest time in the 5,000 meters this past Friday at the Vanderbilt University Invitational as he went wire-to-wire to place first in the event with a time of 14 minutes, 11.28 seconds. He already owns the top NCAA Division II time in the 3,000 meters with his mark of 8:05.22 at the Gladstein Invitational.

This is the third consecutive honor and sixth career weekly award for the Palmyra, Indiana native.  Prior to being recognized the past two weeks, Guy had earned league accolades on Feb. 6, 2013, and Jan. 22 and Feb. 5, 2015.
