Lewis University senior sprinter Chantel Stennis and senior jumper Amber Cook have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Wednesday.
Stennis won the 400 meters at the GVSU Big Meet this past weekend with a time of 54.96 seconds, which ranks first in the GLVC and sixth in NCAA Division II. She would then return to capture first in the 200 meters with a time of 24.41. It was her fastest actual time of the year and just under her converted time of 24.20 that ranks first in the league and third nationally.
The honor is the fifth GLVC weekly award for the Bolingbrook, Illinois native as she was honored on Jan. 26, 2016, as well as three times last season on Dec. 11, 2014, and Jan. 15 and Feb. 15, 2015.
