University of Southern Indiana senior catcher Ryan Bertram and Missouri S&T junior pitcher Keith Coulson have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Monday.

Coulson threw a complete game two-hit shutout in S&T's season-opening 1-0 win over Lincoln on Saturday.  He allowed only three Blue Tigers to reach base, two on hits and one via a walk (a fourth runner reached on an error), while striking out six in the contest.   It marked the second straight year that a Miner pitcher threw a complete game shutout in a season opener and started a weekend in which Missouri S&T went 4-0.  It is just the second time in school history that the Miners have won their first four games of a season.

This is the St. Louis, Missouri native's first career weekly honor and the first for a Miner since Micah Dohlen was tabbed Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 16, 2015.
