Lewis University sophomore Nora Mindiyarova has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the sport of women's tennis, the Conference announced Tuesday.
Mindiyarova went 4-0 last week with two singles wins and two wins at doubles. The Flyers took team wins over Aquinas, 6-3, on the road Saturday and followed up with a 5-4 regional win at Ferris State Sunday.
Against Aquinas, the sophomore partnered with Dora Andrejszki at No. 1 doubles to beat Lea Jansen and Matina Devetak 8-5, while the pair topped ShawneeAnn Brelsford and Nicole Meylor of Ferris by the same score the very next day.
In singles, Mindiyarova won 6-1, 6-1 over Devetak of Aquinas and 6-2, 6-0 past Ferris State's Nika Hein – both at No. 2 singles.
This is the Moscow, Russia, native's third career weekly honor, as she was chosen twice last season on Feb. 26 and March 24, 2015.
