Lewis University junior distance specialist Amanda Farrough and senior jumper Amber Cook have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the Conference office Wednesday.
Farrough won the 3,000 meters at the ONU Qualifier in Bourbonnais, Illinois this past Saturday in her first race of the indoor season. Her time of 9:31.79 is an NCAA automatic qualifying mark and converts to 9:26.93, which is the third fastest time in the country this season. Her 9:31.79 was the 12th-fastest 3,000-meter time in Division II history.
The accolade is the fourth career weekly award in the South Bend, Indiana native's indoor career as she earned the 2016 season's first honor December 9, 2015 after twice being selected last season on Dec. 17, 2014 and Feb. 5, 2015.
