Bellarmine University’s Jamie Jackson (Morgantown, Ky.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward led the Knights to a pair of road victories in league play over the weekend.
 
Jackson averaged 27.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and five assists per game in wins over SIU Edwardsville and Quincy.
 
In Bellarmine’s 84-67 win over SIU Edwardsville on Thursday, Jackson netted a career-high 28 points on 9-for-12 shooting. He was 6-for-6 from the free throw line and knocked down all four of his three-point field goal attempts. In addition, Jackson pulled down seven rebounds and dished out seven assists.
 
He returned in Bellarmine’s 100-94 win at Quincy to post a team-high 27 points. Jackson was 5-for-15 from the field and 14-for-16 from the free throw line. He also corralled eight rebounds and had three assists and two steals.
 
On the week, he shot 51.9 percent from the field, was 7-for-10 from the three-point line and hit 20-of-22 free throw attempts.
 
Bellarmine (6-1, 2-0 GLVC) is off to its best start since the 1990-91 season and has won three straight games. The Knights will return to the court on December 15 at West Virginia Tech.
 
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Collins Harris, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Rodney Edgerson, Lewis’ Stephan Bolt, Northern Kentucky’s Harrison Morton, Quincy’s Andre Muse, Rockhurst’s Joey Deas, Saint Joseph’s Ronald Coleman, Southern Indiana’s Norman Plummer and UIndy’s Justin Barnard.
