University of Indianapolis junior outfielder Natalie Lalich and senior pitcher Morgan Foley were named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in the sport of softball, the Conference office announced Monday.
Lalich led the way offensively for Indianapolis, going 7-for-13 (.538) at the Music City Invitational and upping her hit streak to seven games. The junior crushed four home runs in four games on the way to a lofty 1.462 slugging percentage.
Lalich's solo homer in the top of the seventh added a much-needed insurance run in what was ultimately a 6-5 regional win versus Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday. She followed that with her first career two-home run game against Ohio Dominican, hitting a three-run bomb in the first inning and a two-run shot in the third in another one-run, in-region victory for her team, 5-4.
The Greenwood, Ind., native earns her first career weekly selection and is the second Greyhound chosen this season, as Erika Goodwin was selected last week Feb. 22.
