Quincy University senior right fielder Ryan Snyder and University of Indianapolis junior pitcher Jake Shaw have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Monday.
?Shaw was impressive on the mound for the Greyhounds in the second game of a doubleheader against Oakland City on Saturday. The junior hurler picked up his first win in a Greyhound uniform after tossing a complete game shutout in a 3-0 win. Shaw scattered three hits, walked two and struck out 13 batters, becoming the first UIndy pitcher to reach double digit strikeouts since Jordan Tackett fanned 11 against Illinois Springfield back on Mar. 29, 2015. He has a 1-1 record on the year with a 1.29 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched this year.
This is the Fredericton, Ontario native's first career weekly honor and the first for a Hound since Tackett was tabbed Pitcher of the Week on April 13, 2015.
