Rockhurst University junior outfielder Mitch Stickney and Maryville University senior pitcher Robbie Gordon have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Monday.

Stickney hit .643 (9-for-14) with two home runs, four runs scored and six RBIs at the Clearwater Invitational this past week in Florida.  He opened with a 4-for-5 effort against Mansfield with three RBI and two runs scored, one of which was a home run.  In a 6-1 decision over Upper Iowa on Friday, Stickney was 2-for-4 from the plate with an RBI.  In the week's 11-10 finale against Cedarville, Stickney was 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored.  The Marion, Iowa native hit above .500 with multiple hits and had at least an RBI in each game, while reaching base at a .688 clip and earning a slugging percentage of 1.071.  He posted two stolen bases as well.

This is the first weekly award of Stickney's career and he is the first Rockhurst player to earn the honor since Ben Baker on March 21, 2011.
