Truman State University freshman outfielder Christa Reisinger and senior pitcher Morgan Foley were named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in the sport of softball, the Conference office announced Monday.
Reisinger batted .471 (8-for-17) with five runs, seven RBI, one double, two triples, a home run, and five stolen bases through four league games last week. She also amassed a .500 on-base percentage and a .941 slugging percentage.
In the first game against Lewis on Saturday, she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs scored in the 7-2 win. Closing out the sweep at Lewis, the freshman was 2-for-5 with her first collegiate grand slam and a stolen base. Her dinger came as part of a five-run seventh inning that put the game out of reach in Truman's 12-5 win.
The next day, Reisinger went 3-for-4 with two triples, a double, three RBI, a walk, and a stolen base to lead the Bulldogs to a 12-5 win in the first game at UW-Parkside. Game two saw a 1-for-4 effort with two runs scored that helped TSU get the 7-4 victory over UWP to close out the week of undefeated play.
The Winfield, Mo., native earns her first career weekly selection and is the first Bulldog to be chosen since Andrea Klipsch was the honoree March 16, 2015.
