University of Missouri-St. Louis freshman Jennifer Hauer has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the sport of women's tennis, the Conference announced Tuesday.
UMSL swept three regional opponents, including GLVC cross-divisional foe Southern Indiana, thanks in part to Hauer's undefeated efforts over the past week. She won all three of her No. 2 doubles matches 8-4 with senior partner Natalia Carvalhais to improve their record to 6-3 on the season.
At No. 1 singles, she earned a come-from-behind win versus her Lindenwood opponent 1-6, 6-1, 6-1, and then she defeated an Emporia State foe 6-4, 6-2. The freshman closed out her unbeaten ways with a 6-2, 6-2 win over USI's Elizabeth Wilm. Those three wins improved her singles record to 15-5 in singles, where she has won five straight.
This is the Vienna, Austria, native's first career weekly honor, and she is the first Triton chosen since Renee Verboven was selected earlier this season on March 8.
