Lewis University senior first baseman Joe Sparacio and Missouri S&T senior pitcher Keith Coulson have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Monday.

Sparacio helped the Flyers to a 3-0 record at the inaugural Midwest Region Crossover Showcase last weekend, hitting 8-for-13 (.615) from the plate with five RBI and one run scored.  Lewis opened the event with an 18-11 victory over Cedarville, a game in which Sparacio went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.  He then turned in a 3-for-5 effort with a double and RBI in the Flyers' 8-2 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan, and then closed out the week with a 2-for-4 performance in an 11-0 shutout against Alderson Broaddus.  Sparacio tacked on another RBI in that game to finish the week with at least one RBI in each game played.  He posted a .667 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging percentage as well.

This is the first weekly award of Sparacio's career and he is the first Lewis player to earn the honor since Ethan Bloom on April 21, 2015.
