University of Missouri-St. Louis senior outfielder Erin Walker and University of Indianapolis senior pitcher Morgan Foley were named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in the sport of softball, the Conference office announced Monday.
Walker impressed from the batter's box last week, leading the Tritons to a 6-0 record. She tallied 12 hits, including four doubles, a triple and two home runs. The senior also served up seven RBI from her leadoff position while scoring 11 runs, posting a batting average of .600, an on-base percentage of .652 and a 1.200 slugging percentage. She also finished with multiple hits in four of the six games. In a sweep at Lindenwood, Walker went a combined 6-for-8 at the plate with five RBI and five runs scored. She was a combined 3-for-6 in two wins over William Jewell with a pair of doubles and a home run, while scoring four runs before another 3-for-6 combined performance against Rockhurst where she additionally drew a walk apiece in each victory.
The Silvis, Ill., native earns her first career weekly selection and is the second Triton selected this season as Sara Kern earned the 2016 season's inaugural nod on February 15.
