University of Missouri-St. Louis senior outfielder Erin Walker and University of Indianapolis senior pitcher Morgan Foley were named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in the sport of softball, the Conference office announced Monday.
Foley garnered the pitching win in five of the six games last week, moving her record to a perfect 22-0 on the season. She compiled a 0.26 ERA in five starts, including 16 scoreless innings in Conference play. The senior struck out 54 batters in 27 innings of work, allowing a .112 batting average against and surrendering no extra-base hits. Foley fanned 13 batters in six scoreless innings versus Lewis Friday and also punched out 21 Rangers in two starts Saturday, including striking out 12 and allowing a single hit in five innings in game one. For the season, Foley tops the GLVC in ERA (0.60) and strikeouts per seven innings (13.9).
This is the Louisville, Ky., native's ninth career weekly honor and her second selection in a row while third overall this season.
