University of Southern Indiana junior catcher Haley Hodges and University of Indianapolis senior pitcher Morgan Foley were named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in the sport of softball, the Conference office announced Monday.

Hodges continued on her historic pace in a set of six key contests for the Screaming Eagles against Bellarmine, No. 1 Indianapolis, and Saint Joseph's. In those games, she hit .692 (9-13) with nine RBI, four runs, a double, and three home runs, earning seven walks – six intentional – and one hit-by-pitch. Additionally, she amassed an .810 on base percentage, while slugging 1.462.

Despite the Eagles' road doubleheader loss at Bellarmine, the junior opened the day going 2-for-3 with three RBI, a double, a home run, and a run scored. In the second contest, she finished 1-for-2 with an RBI, a home run and an intentional walk.

Against top-ranked UIndy, Hodges went 0-for-2 in the first game's narrow 2-1 loss but managed to draw one of the four walks allowed by GLVC Pitcher of the Week Morgan Foley. In the Eagles' 12-3 victory over UIndy in five innings, Hodges hit a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI, knocking off the previously unbeaten Greyhounds.

Wrapping up the weekend, the catcher powered USI to victory in the first game against Saint Joseph's. Hodges smashed a first-inning, three-run home run to right centerfield to open up the scoring in the Eagles' 5-1 win. She finished 1-for-1 that included the homer, three RBI, a run scored, and two intentional walks. In game two, SJC looked to prevent a similar impact, and in the midst of an attempted intentional walk, the Pumas left a pitch over the outside corner of the plate that Hodges drove into right field to score a run and push USI in front. She also finished the second game 1-for-1 with an RBI, a run scored, and three intentional walks in the Eagles' 5-4 victory. Hodges currently has 14 home runs and 50 RBI this season and is on pace to break the USI school single-season records (16 HRs and 54 RBIs) for those categories.

The Portage, Ind., native earns her first career weekly selection and is the first Screaming Eagle chosen since MacKenzi Dorsam earned the nod on April 21, 2015.
