University of Southern Indiana junior catcher Haley Hodges and University of Indianapolis senior pitcher Morgan Foley were named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in the sport of softball, the Conference office announced Monday.

Foley had another stellar week in the circle, going 3-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA while striking out 26 in 18 1/3 innings. She started the weekend with a complete-game win at previously ranked Southern Indiana Saturday. She fanned 11 Eagles while surrendering one unearned run in seven innings. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh of a one-run game, Foley got the league's home run leader and current GLVC Player of the Week, Haley Hodges, to fly out to right, ending the game and securing the win.

Foley earned both pitching wins in the home twinbill versus Bellarmine Sunday. She bested BU ace Ally Foster with a two-hit shutout in game one, striking out nine and walking just three. The Knights had their best chance in the fourth with runners on second and third and only one out, but the senior promptly struck out the next two batters to end the threat.

In game two, Foley came on in relief to pitch the final 4 1/3 innings while allowing no runs and only one hit. With the bases loaded and two down with her team trailing 3-2, she entered the game in the third inning and punched out the first batter she faced to end the Knight rally. She proceeded to toss scoreless softball the rest of the way to give her team a chance to earn the comeback win. Foley has won all 26 of her decisions this season, good for the 10th-longest winning streak ever for a DII pitcher. She leads the GLVC in both ERA (0.58) and strikeouts per game (13.2).

This is the Louisville, Ky., native's 10th career weekly honor and her third selection in a row while GLVC-best fourth overall this season.
