Quincy University senior right fielder Ryan Snyder and William Jewell College senior right-hander Austin Kretchmar have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Monday.

In the intradivisional battle with Missouri-St. Louis, Kretchmar opened the four-game series Saturday with a nine-inning complete game shutout, which saw him allow just three hits and one walk, while striking out a pair of Tritons in the 1-0 victory.  It was a pivotal win for the Cardinals as they would go on to split the series with UMSL and end the week in a three-way tie for first place in the GLVC West Division with Missouri S&T and Rockhurst at 5-3.   

This is the Okarche, Oklahoma native’s first career weekly honor and the first for a Cardinal hurler since Preston Felgate was recognized on March 24, 2014.
