The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has named University of Indianapolis freshman Katharina Keilich its GLVC Women's Golf Player of the Month for March, it was announced Tuesday. Keilich earned the honor following a vote from the league's women's golf coaches.

The Wetzlar, Germany, native played six rounds in two tournaments last month and averaged 73.17 strokes.

Keilich turned in her best performance of last month on March 14-15 at the Barry University Women's Invitational with a one-under-par 71-70-74=215 to finish fourth in a field of 76 golfers. She was one of only four competitors to shoot below par, which featured players from eight of the top-10 teams in the country. Indianapolis finished seventh of 13 teams at the event, carding an 895 (299-292-304) +31 behind No. 1 and top finisher Florida Tech, third-ranked and second-place host Barry as well as four other top-10 ranked teams on Golfstat.com.

Four days later, UIndy participated in the Perry Park Spring Fling March 19-20, finishing runner-up (297-303-307=907) in the 27-team event. Keilich scored 224 during the 54-hole meet, opening with a first-round score of 75. She followed that with a second-round 76 before finishing strong in the final round, carding a 73 to finish eighth overall in a regional field of 151.

This monthly honor is the first career selection for the freshman, and she is the first Greyhound to be chosen since teammate Annika Haynes earned last season's final nod on May 4, 2015.
