The University of Indianapolis’ Karla Mast (New Buffalo, Mich.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior guard netted 25 points to lead the Greyhounds to a 69-67 win at Eckerd College on Saturday.
Mast finished the game with 25 points, six rebounds, eight assists, four steals and two blocks. She was 8-for-18 (.444) from the field and tied a career-high with five three-point field goals.
In addition, she sealed the win for UIndy by blocking a potential game-winning jumper and stealing the ensuing in-bounds pass in the final seconds.
It was the fourth time this season Mast has scored 25 points. She is averaging 19.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Greyhounds.
UIndy (8-0, 2-0) broke the school record for consecutive victories to start a season with the win. The Greyhounds will return to action at Florida Tech on Tuesday.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Jenny Turpel, Missouri-St. Louis’ Courtney Watts, Quincy’s Jessica Keller, Rockhurst’s Amy Hake, SIU Edwardsville’s Amber Shelton and Southern Indiana’s Jasmine Baines.
