University of Indianapolis sophomore Florence Renard has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the sport of women's tennis, the Conference announced Tuesday.

Renard went 2-0 in both singles and doubles last week, as 27th-ranked Indianapolis defeated 23rd-ranked Northwood (6-3) and GLVC foe McKendree (9-0).

In Friday's landmark 6-3 win against the Timberwolves – UIndy's first in over 15 years – Renard and teammate Hanna Volikova broke a 1-1 tie with a remarkable 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles. The two trailed the region's fifth-ranked duo (Carol Arnez-Mercado and Anna Aniskina) 5-2 before rallying back for the victory. Later, during singles play, the sophomore delivered a 6-1, 6-1 win against regionally-ranked (18) Alisa Reshetnikova in No. 2 singles.

Renard followed Saturday with two more wins, dropping only one game between her doubles and singles matches in the Greyhounds' GLVC opener. She and Volikova paired up to drop the Bearcats' Janelle Fung and Kelcie Comley, 8-0, before Renard cruised past Fung 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles. UIndy has now gone nearly two calendar years since losing a regular season league match.

This is the Neupré, Belgium, native's first career weekly honor, and she makes it back-to-back weekly selections for a Hound as Volika was chosen last week on March 29.
