University of Southern Indiana sophomore distance specialist Emily Roberts and University of Indianapolis junior thrower Lissette Mendivil have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced Wednesday by the conference office.

Mendivil finished first among collegiate throwers in the discus contested at the Knight Invitational contested on the campus of Marian University this past week.  Her effort of 45.89 meters was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and currently ranked first in the GLVC and ninth nationally.  She recorded top-8 finishes in the shot put (12.07m) and hammer (45.70m) as well, the latter of which is tops among all GLVC throwers.

A native of Visalia, California, Mendivil earns the first weekly honor of her career.
