University of Southern Indiana sophomore distance specialist Emily Roberts and University of Indianapolis junior thrower Lissette Mendivil have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced Wednesday by the conference office.
Roberts won the 5,000 meters this past Friday evening at the Washington University Invitational in 16 minutes, 31.17 seconds, which broke Heather Cooksey’s school record of 16:32.97. Her time is currently ranked third among all NCAA Division II runners and is 30 seconds faster than the second-quickest 5K runner in the GLVC.
