Quincy University junior first baseman David Jacob and Lewis University junior left-handed pitcher Alex Shake have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Monday.

Shake earns his first career weekly honor after striking out 10 batters and surrendering just one hit in the Flyers’ 9-7 victory at Illinois Springfield on Friday.  The Glasford, Illinois native went six shutout innings before being retired with 127 pitches.  He is the first Lewis pitcher honored since Ryan Fox was tabbed Pitcher of the Week on April 28, 2015.
