Quincy University junior first baseman David Jacob and University of Missouri-St. Louis senior pitcher Austin Simokaitis have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Monday.

Simokaitis had a hand in all three UMSL victories against Illinois Springfield last week in non-conference action.  He recorded three saves while limited the Prairie Stars to .182 batting in three innings.  He struck out five batters during that time, allowed two hits, and did not issue a walk.  Simokaitis now has four saves in four appearances this season and 15 over the course of two seasons at UMSL, moving into a tie for third place on the program's career charts.

A native of St. Louis and a first-team All-GLVC relief pitcher last year, Simokaitis earns the first weekly award of his career.  He is the first Triton honored since Kyle Wilson was tabbed Pitcher of the Week on May 4, 2015.
