University of Southern Indiana senior distance runner Johnnie Guy and University of Indianapolis senior jumper Josh Bass have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Guy took the lead with one kilometer remaining in the Invitational 5,000-meter race at the Mt. SAC Relays last Friday night, holding the lead until 200 meters to go.  He held on to finish in 13:39.14, which shattered his personal best by 21.62 seconds.  His time ranks second in NCAA Division II and sixth across all divisions, as well as 10th all-time in NCAA II.

This is the fourth weekly outdoor honor for the Palmyra, Indiana, native as he was also recognized two weeks back on April 6, as well as April 8, 2015 and April 27, 2014.
