Drury University sophomore third baseman Kaelie Smith and University of Indianapolis senior catcher Jenny Thompson were named Great Lakes Valley Conference co-Players of the Week, while Indianapolis senior Morgan Foley was named GLVC Pitcher of the Week in the sport of softball, the Conference office announced Monday.

Smith, who hit .500 for the week had six hits, six RBI and scored two runs and posted a 1.083 slugging percentage and a .538 on-base percentage this past week, helping Drury to a GLVC sweep over UW-Parkside (4-3, 4-0) and a split vs. Lewis on Sunday (3-0, 5-7).

On Sunday, Smith had three hits, a run and an RBI and followed that up with a two-hit, three-RBI and one-run effort in the nightcap. She hit for the cycle on the week with two singles, two doubles, a triple and a homer. Additionally, the sophomore recorded eight putouts and had six assists at third base.

This is the Washington, Mo., native’s first career selection, and she is the first Panther to earn a weekly award since 2014 when Carson Forge was chosen April 14.
