The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has named University of Indianapolis sophomore Graham McAree its GLVC Men’s Golf Player of the Month for April, it was announced Monday. He earned the honor following a vote from the league’s men's golf coaches.
McAree played nine rounds in three tournaments last month and averaged 71.0 strokes.
In his first two tournaments of the month, the sophomore finished second and ninth at The Jewell (72-72) April 2-3 and Purgatory (75-72) April 10-11, respectively, before taking medalist honors at the GLVC Men’s Golf Championship (75-70-66-66-71) April 17-19.
His performance at The Jewell helped UIndy finish second as well, and his ninth-place effort at Purgatory earned the Greyhounds third as a team. Concluding the April events at the GLVC Championship, McAree shot 75-70-66 in stroke play to become individual champion, preceding the team’s eventual runner-up finish in medal/match play as the No. 2 seed where he shot 137 (66-71). Additionally, he twice shot a championship-low round, 6-under-par 66.
The Fishers, Indiana, native earns his first career monthly honor and is the first Hound men’s golfer selected since Tobin Dunigan on April 4, 2013.
