Rockhurst University junior outfielder David Stober and University of Southern Indiana junior pitcher Lucas Barnett were named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in the sport of baseball, the Conference office announced Monday.
Stober went 11-for-17 (.647) in four games last week, adding three doubles, one triple, four runs scored, four runs batted in, and a .941 slugging percentage. Additionally, he amassed three hits in three of the four games.
The junior led Rockhurst to a 3-1 record against Truman State University that included a 3-for-4 performance in the first game of the series May 6. In the first of two games on May 7, Stober drove in three runs and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a walk and a stolen base. In the very next game, he was 3-for-5 and scored two runs.
This is the first career weekly honor for the Blue Springs, Mo., native, and he is the second Hawk chosen this season as Mitch Stickney was the March 14 honoree.
