University of Southern Indiana senior shortstop Kyle Niemeier and senior right-handed pitcher T.J. Decker have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Monday.

Niemeier led the Screaming Eagles to a 5-0 week against GLVC competition, including a 10-1 non-conference win over Missouri-St. Louis and a four-game league sweep of Saint Joseph’s College.  The senior hit a blistering .571 (8-14) with nine runs scored, four RBIs, two doubles, and a triple. The triple drove in a pair of run to cap off USI’s come-from-behind 11-8 victory over Saint Joseph’s Sunday resulting in the Eagles moving into first place in the GLVC East.  The Evansville, Indiana product had at least one hit and one run scored in each of the five games played this past week.

This is his first career weekly honor.
