Drury University’s Adam White (Kansas City, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. White, a junior guard for the sixth-ranked Panthers, helped Drury collect road wins at Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky over the weekend.
In Drury’s 73-71 win at Bellarmine on Thursday, White scored 16 points on 5-for-10 (.500) shooting. He pulled down five rebounds, had two assists and one steal in the victory. Thirteen of White’s 16 points came in the first half of the contest allowing the Panthers to remain in striking distance despite a 32-31 halftime deficit.
Drury escaped Northern Kentucky on Saturday with a 69-67 victory and again White provided a key effort. After catching a first half elbow, White played the second half with four stitches above his left eye and still poured in a game-high 18 points. He finished 7-for-12 (.583) from the field, pulled down six rebounds and dished out two assists.
For the week, White averaged 17 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He shot 54.5 percent from the field and was 10-for-12 (.833) from the free-throw line.
White is averaging 12.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season for the Panthers.
Drury (11-1, 4-0) ran its current winning streak to four games with the victories. The Panthers will return home for contests against Quincy and SIU Edwardsville this weekend.
