The University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Kayla Ming (Grayslake, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ming, a senior guard for the Rangers, led UW-Parkside to road wins at Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan over the weekend.
UW-Parkside rallied from a 32-30 halftime deficit at Southern Indiana on Thursday night to post a 70-63 victory. Ming led the surge by scoring all 19 of her points in the Rangers’ second-half run. She drilled six three-point field goals in the victory and also had four rebounds and three steals.
Ming also paced the Rangers in their impressive 80-56 victory at Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday. She netted a game-high 32 points on 11-for-16 shooting and canned six-of-nine three-point attempts. Ming also posted six steals, four assists and two rebounds in the win.
On the week, Ming averaged 25.5 points, 4.5 steals, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. She finished the week 17-for-31 (.548) from the field, 12-for-23 (.521) and 5-for-6 (83.3) from the free-throw line.
This season, Ming is averaging 18.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
UW-Parkside (10-4, 4-2) has won three straight games and five of the last six. Ming has led the club in scoring in each of the past six games.
