McKendree University sophomore forward Sydnee Carroll and sophomore defender Jessica Smelcer have claimed Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors for women’s soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.

  • Played all 180 minutes at center back in two GLVC shutout wins
  • Helped limit opponents to just seven shots on goal, including only two allowed for Maryville
  • Led the backline in holding UMSL to zero corner kicks
  • Earns her first career Defensive Player of the Week award
