Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Scott Block (Hanover Park, IL) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Block, a junior for SIUE, won the shot put and finished fourth in the 35-pound weight throw at the Missouri Invitational on Saturday. He turned in personal bests in each event.

Block posted a mark of 17.42 meters in the shot put which is a NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark and a new SIUE school record. The mark currently ranks fourth on the NCAA performance list in the event.

He recorded a second SIUE school record in the weight throw by posting a mark of 18.75 meters. It was a personal best and currently ranks second on the NCAA performance list.

SIUE will next be in action on Jan. 19 at the Eastern Illinois University Mega Meet.
