Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Tamara McCaskill (Edwardsville, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The junior forward led the Miners to wins at UW-Parkside and Lewis last week.

 

In Missouri S&T’s 65-56 win at UW-Parkside on Thursday, McCaskill scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds. She was 6-for-12 (.500) from the field on the evening and also collected three steals.

 

McCaskill poured in a career-high 26 points in the Miners’ 67-60 win at Lewis on Saturday. She was 10-for-12 (.857) from the field and also had six rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots. McCaskill helped the Miners’ build a 10-point lead in the first half by posting 19 of her 26 points in the first 20 minutes.

 

On the week, McCaskill averaged 21.5 points and six rebounds per game. She finished 16-for-24 (.667) from the field and 10-for-14 (.714) from the free-throw line.

 

McCaskill is averaging 14.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game this season. She is shooting 49 percent from the field and has helped the Miners put together a seven-game winning streak.

 

Missouri S&T (12-2, 6-1) is in first-place in the GLVC West Division. The Miners will next host Bellarmine on Thursday.

 

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Katie Willinger, Drury’s Molly Carter, Lewis’ Kelly Dianis, Quincy’s Jessica Keller, Rockhurst’s Amy Hake and UIndy’s Deanna Thompson.
