INDIANAPOLIS – Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Katie Bunge (Mexico, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward averaged a double-double in wins over Bellarmine and 14th-ranked Northern Kentucky last week.
In Missouri S&T’s 76-65 win over visiting Bellarmine on Thursday, Bunge posted 13 points and 13 rebounds. She was 5-for-12 (.417) from the field and also collected one blocked shot.
She returned in the Miners’ 66-42 upset of 14th-ranked Northern Kentucky on Saturday to post a team-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. She added an assist and three steals, while shooting 6-for-12 (.500) from the field.
For the week, Bunge averaged 15 points and 12.5 rebounds per game and in the process helped the Miners extend their winning streak to nine games.
Bunge is averaging 9.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game this season.
Missouri S&T (14-2) holds the top record in the GLVC this season at 8-1 and will next travel to SIU Edwardsville on Thursday.
