William Jewell College senior hurdler Blake Alexander and Saint Joseph’s College junior jumper Phil Thompson have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the Conference office Tuesday. 

MEN’S INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Jr., Jumps, Dolton, Illinois
Team Competition:  Grand Valley State’s Mike Lints Open (No Team Scoring)
 

• Won the triple jump for the third straight week with a leap of 15.45 meters (50’8.25”), good for first in the GLVC and second in NCAA Division II.
• Effort also broke his own school record and was just .02 meters shy of an NCAA Automatic Qualifying standard
• Started the day finishing second in the long jump with a leap of 6.78 meters (22’3”)
• Third straight and fifth career GLVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honor (1/24/17, 1/18/17, 2/17/16, 1/20/16)
• First GLVC standout to win three straight weekly honors since Lewis’ Isaac Jean-Paul (2/5/15, 1/27/15, 1/22/15)
• Last Saint Joseph’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Phil Thompson (1/24/17)
