Kentucky Wesleyan College’s Rodney Edgerson (Peoria, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward’s heroics helped the Panthers collect two wins last week, including an upset victory at 7th-ranked Drury on Saturday.
In Saturday’s 68-67 win at Drury, Edgerson tipped in the game-winning basket with 0.9 seconds to play. He finished the game with a team-high 20 points on 7-for-15 (.467) shooting and had five rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.
Edgerson also helped pace the Panthers in their 77-71 victory at Rockhurst on Thursday. He posted 19 points on 6-for-8 (.750) shooting. Edgerson was 6-for-7 from the free-throw line and posted three assists.
On the week, Edgerson averaged 19.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
He is now averaging a league-best 20.4 points per game this season. Edgerson has converted on 59.7 percent of his field goal attempts and 90.6 percent of his free throw attempts this season.
KWC (19-3, 19-2) pulled to within a half-game of the GLVC East Division lead with the victory and has won 14 of its last 15 games, including five straight. The Panthers will next host UIndy on Thursday.
