Bellarmine University’s Katie Hickey is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Hickey, a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, posted a provisional qualifying mark in the “Bill Lee” Mile at the Rod McCravy Memorial meet hosted by the University of Kentucky over the weekend. She finished the mile in 5:00.98 to place 15th in the event.

The time currently ranks Hickey sixth on the NCAA Division II performance list and first on the GLVC indoor performance list. It was the third fastest time in Bellarmine history, behind only former All-American Meghan Crowe’s efforts.

She was the only non-Division I athlete participating in the highly competitive McCravy meet that featured nine schools ranked among the nation’s Top 25.

Bellarmine will return to competition at the Wabash Open on February 9.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Terran Wertz and Southern Indiana’s Heather Cooksey.
