University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior designated hitter Kyohei Makita and University of Indianapolis senior pitcher Jake Shaw have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in baseball, it was announced by the Conference office on Monday.

  • Hit .438 (7-for-16) and recorded at least one hit in all four games, leading UW-Parkside to a 2-2 mark in the season-opening weekend
  • Blasted three home runs and drove in five runs on the week, with a 1.062 slugging percentage and .471 on-base percentage
  • Went 3-for-5 with two homers as the Rangers rallied from six runs down to post an 11-10 victory in game one of the series
  • Was 2-for-4 in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader, with three RBI and one run scored
