Quincy University senior second baseman Jake Walters and University of Illinois Springfield junior pitcher Ethan Howard have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in baseball, it was announced by the Conference office on Monday.

• Picked up first career win with a complete-game shutout in game two of the series at Oakland City
• Went 7.0 innings, surrendering just three hits and a walk, while striking out seven
• Retired eight of the first nine and 14 of the last 15 batters he faced, and allowed just one runner to reach second base all game
• Has not allowed an earned run across two appearances and nine innings this year
• Earns first career Player of the Week award
