Quincy University senior second baseman Jake Walters and Bellarmine University sophomore pitcher Alex Phillips have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in baseball, it was announced by the Conference office on Monday.

• Pitched 7.0 innings in lone start, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out eight batters in Wednesday’s second game against Lee
• Registered first shutout and complete game of his career
• Eight strikeouts were also a career high
• Opponent is currently 18-9, and was shut out for just the second time this season
• Also went 3-for-12 at the plate, including 3-for-8 at UMSL, with one double, one RBI and four runs scored
• Earns first career Player of the Week award
