The University of Indianapolis’ Courtney Kuzmicz (Frankfort, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Kuzmicz, a sophomore for the Greyhounds, excelled at the Wabash Open over the weekend.

She claimed second-place in the 20-pound weight throw and notched a NCAA Division II Indoor Championship provisional mark of 15.94 meters.

The mark is the top effort in the GLVC this season.

Kuzmicz also had a strong showing in the shot put at the Wabash Open, finishing fourth with a throw of 12.08 meters. The mark eclipsed the meet record of 11.78 meters she had previously set in 2007.

UIndy will return to action at the Hoosier Hills Open in Bloomington and the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included SIU Edwardsville’s Jenny Palovcsik.
