Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Deserea Brown (Flossmoor, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Brown, a junior sprinter for the Cougars, posted two NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times at the Blue Classic hosted by Illinois College over the weekend.

She won the 200-meter dash with a provisional time of 25.35 seconds and earned second-place in the 55-meter dash with a provisional time of 7.23 seconds. In addition, Brown also took home first-place in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.31 seconds.

Brown has posted NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times in the 55-meter dash, 55-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash this year. She also holds the top time in the all four events among GLVC athletes.

SIUE will next head to the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included UIndy’s Nichelle Curtis.
