University of Illinois Springfield junior first baseman Michael Rothmund and Lewis University sophomore pitcher Peter Hamot have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in baseball, it was announced by the Conference office on Tuesday.

  • Hit .579 (11-for-19) with one home run, two triples, two doubles, five RBI, and seven runs scored
  • Registered 20 total bases and a 1.053 slugging percentage
  • Walked five times for .667 on-base percentage
  • Recorded multiple hits in four of his five games, and went 1-for-2 with three walks in the other
  • Started the week with a 3-for-5 effort and a triple against Truman State
  • Opened UW-Parkside series 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored, and then followed with 2-for-3 performance with two double in the nightcap
  • Finished weekend’s sweep a combined 3-for-6 with a triple, four walks, four runs, and two RBI
  • Earns first Player of the Week award in school history
