Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Kyle Rose (Kankakee, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Rose, a senior for the Cougars, paced SIUE at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic over the weekend and established a new school record in the 400-meter dash. He completed the event in a time of 47.15.
The mark is a NCAA Division II automatic qualifier and also the top time on the NCAA Division II performance list. His effort was good for ninth place in the event in Ames, Iowa.
Rose also ran the anchor leg on the 4x400 relay team which finished with a time of 3:13.08.
He is currently ranked first in the GLVC in both the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash this season.
SIUE will return to action at the Eastern Illinois University Friday Night Special on Feb. 22.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Joey Blue and Missouri S&T’s Brandon Etzold.
